At Highbury

The club’s history picks Denis out as deserving special mention among Highbury’s bowlers, for the Second XI: “regularly making the league bowling averages despite having to toil against batsmen enjoying Highbury’s excellent batting surface.”

In 1977 he took a hat-trick against Leeds Police, and the ball was mounted as a trophy. He captained the Second XI in 1980 and 1981.

And when the occasion called for it, he was Elvis.
